Dr. Robert C. Wilson grew up in Winchester, where he spent 12 years in the public school system. Throughout high school he was very active in both sports and the music program. As a violinist, he had the privilege of playing in the Greater Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra for 4 years. He performed in concerts at Symphony Hall, Carnegie Hall, and at the White House for President John Kennedy. Dr. Wilson attended Yankton College and received a BS Degree in biological science. In addition to his studies in college, Dr. Wilson performed in the college orchestra and was a place kicker for the football team. Dr. Wilson went on to attend the Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine in Cleveland for his dental training. Upon completion of his dental training at Case Western Reserve University, Dr. Wilson attended the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine to receive his Specialty Certificate in Orthodontics. After graduation, he returned to Winchester and in 1976 joined in the practice of orthodontics with his father, the late William L. Wilson, D.M.D.
In 1976, Dr. Wilson and his father began the development of the Wilson® 3D® Modular Orthodontic System that is used throughout the world today. They co-authored three orthodontic textbooks and wrote many articles on the system. The system consists of 10 different fixed/removable orthodontic appliances that provide exceptional efficiency and flexibility with treatment mechanics. Dr. Wilson has given hundreds of orthodontic lectures, seminars, and workshops on the system throughout the United States and the world. Dr. Wilson was also an Assistant Clinical Professor of Orthodontics at the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston where he taught for many years. Dr. Wilson is an active member of the American Dental Association, the Massachusetts Dental Society, and the American Association of Orthodontists.
Dr. Wilson’s passion extends beyond the practice of orthodontics. He is extensively involved in the community he serves. You will find him at many local sporting events, musicals, and community activities. You can often catch him dressing up as a Crest toothpaste tube, making balloon animals, or telling a joke or a story. He is a man of the community that loves doing what he does best, making people smile!
